Week 3: why geeks should write

Writing is an important skill for geeks to communicate with others,  keep a record, and sort out his or her own thoughts.

The internet has provided geeks to commuicate their ideas with greater population easier than before. Therefore being able to write is important for effective communication. Ways like posting a blog or keeping a site is more accessible than writing an article for scientific magazines for most geeks. Geeks don't have to be professionals to express their ideas. As long as they are writing about something that's meaningful to themselves and the readers who are reading their blogs, this would be a successful communication.

Writing can also help keep track of questions and mistakes. One makes progress through mistakes and confusions, so it's important for geeks go keep a record in the process of learning, and look back form time to time. Moreover, writing forces one to sort out his or her thoughts. Some times great points are random pieces of ideas and inspirations in their early stage. A geek's job is to make substantial connections between the ideas and make the point coherent. Instead of just going over ideas in one's head, writing forces the geek to organize his(her) thoughts while organizing his (her) language.
